Serious Games – Utilization as project tools
Technical realtime visualization for internet and tablet use
The engineering office mach:idee had worked on a pilot project on the use of the game engine Unity3d as a web-based solution to problems concerning the modelling of sediment transport for the Bundesanstalt für Wasserbau (BAW – Federal Waterways Engineering Research Institute).
This project served as the basis for the issues examined in the thesis. The possibility of gamification of such projects is discussed. Several approaches to serious gaming and its utilization for matters regarding the representation of technical and scientific results are examined.
